Here is the info for this week……Hope it answers many of your questions asked this week……..
· The Assignment Filter: Why are you seeing Quarter 2 scores?? When you set it from the Gradebook screen it is only temporary. If you go to Settings -> Option you can make the change permanently there by setting the “Display Gradebook Average As” choose Current Grading Period and “Current Assignments” options as Quarter 3. Then click SAVE…..Once you set this then you will not have to EVER change it as it will automatically switch your gradebook over to the next quarter. I would also leave the Term at the bottom BLANK as it will also auto change to the correct term.
· First Quarter Grades Missing: This is for Elementary……We have identified the problem and the vendor is working to fix it going forward. The problem is that in the Gradebook, every time you take a student out of a concept and add then to a new concept (or back to the same concept) it is treating this as a delete/add… it should be treating this as a drop/add. Since the system treated the change as a delete, it also deleted the associated data for the concept course (assignment scores, grades, etc.) There is no real way for me to automatically put these scores back into the system, but if you do still have the report cards from the first grading period they can be input again into Discovery. Please avoid dropping students from concepts until we get a fix from the vendor in place. Or make sure you KEEP THE PDF of the report cards so in case it does vanish you can reenter scores by using the PDF in Discovery.
· Dropped Students: Many people were asking why they do not see all Dropped Students. This is due to the "Ten Day Rule" in Discovery. Drops in the first ten days of the semester are deleted from the system and treated as if the student was never in the class. Only students dropped after the first ten days of the semester will remain in the teacher's list.
