· Attendance: Please check today to make sure that your Attendance was recorded properly. There was a glitch this morning.
· Gradebook Calculations: There was a problem with the grade calculation in the Gradebook. The vendor was quick to send us an update which is now running on our web servers, but we are still seeing some residual left over from this. There are two ways to fix the problem:
o Modify or add a new score for each student in the class. For example if I were a teacher who had some concern about how my Gradebook was calculated I could auto fill scores for one of my empty assignments, save, then use an empty auto fill to clear out the scores and click save again. This would recalculate the grade correctly for all students in the class. As long as there is a change to any of the students’ scores the grade will be recalculated for that student.
o Under Settings > Gradebook Setup > Click on the Course: there is a button on the bottom-left with the text “Recalc GB Avg.” When you click this button it will recalculate all of the grades for all of the students in the section.
o The problem will work itself out fairly quickly for most teachers without them doing anything special on their part, but if there is concern they can use one of the two methods above to speed up the process.
· Browsers: Users going directly to the Gradebook (https://gb.graniteschools.org/gb/) will now be warned if they are using an unsupported browser, or if they are in Compatibility View. Please make sure they are using IE or Safari especially at home which is what we are finding out why they are having problems in calculations and other issues.
o The NE has also setup some browser restrictions on the link for teachers accessing the Gradebook through WebNetwork.
o Teachers already in the system have not been affected, and will not notice any change until they leave the Gradebook and attempt to access the system again.
· Posting Deadline: Don’t forget the posting deadline is this Friday, January 18, 2013. If you have not posted by the closing of the window, then you the teacher will need to sit with the secretary or principal and hand enter grades in Discovery ( the student database) on Tuesday, January 22, 2013. Let me know if you need the instructions in how to do this since this is a once a quarter issue, it is not easily remembered.
